Healthy teeth is a healthy body

The relationship between oral health and overall health

Fertility problems

Inflamed gums are linked to an increased risk of preterm birth and low birth weight babies.

Alzheimer's disease

The inflammatory substances released by inflamed gums are linked to the inflammation in the brain that can cause Alzheimer's disease.

Diabetes

Inflamed gums are associated with diabetes and may increase the risk of complications due to diabetes.

Cardiovascular diseases

Inflamed gums have much more bacteria and plaque entering the bloodstream than healthy gums. The bacteria entering our bodies contain a protein that promotes clots and can clog our blood vessels and arteries, increasing the risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease.

Pneumonia

Infections in the mouth may be associated with an increased risk of pneumonia.

Pancreatic/kidney cancer

Periodontitis is associated with gastrointestinal cancer and pancreatic cancer.

So by brushing properly, flossing as well as visiting your dentist, you are not only helping your smile - but also your entire health.
